This came 11 days after mid-day revealed how the garden had remained closed to the public for eight months due to a tussle between BMC departments (&lsquo;10-acre garden in the heart of the city is ready, but you can&rsquo;t go there&rsquo;, April 22).

&ldquo;I would like to thank mid-day for highlighting the issue. Mumbaikars will now get to avail of one of the largest open spaces and green lungs of the city,&rdquo; said the late leader&rsquo;s daughter and MP Poonam Mahajan.

The park was thrown open by CM Devendra Fadnavis yesterday. The event was attended by the Mahajan family (notably Pramod Mahajan&rsquo;s widow, Rekha, daughter and MP Poonam, and son Rahul).
