Mumbai rain: Santacruz records over 200 mm rainfall in 24 hours amid IMD orange alert

Mumbai witnessed heavy to very heavy rainfall for the fourth straight day, with Santacruz recording 205 mm of rain in 24 hours under the IMD's orange alert

For the fourth day in a row on Thursday, Mumbai received heavy to very heavy rainfall amid the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) week-long orange alert for the city, with over 200 mm of rain in a short span of 24 hours. In the 24 hours between 8 am on Wednesday and 8 am on Thursday, the Santacruz weather station recorded 205 mm of rain, while the Colaba weather station recorded 158 mm.

31.9% of average

This has brought the total rain received by Mumbai this monsoon season to 668.9 mm at Colaba, or 31.9 per cent of the average seasonal rainfall (2095 mm), and 718.3 mm at Santacruz, or 30.9 per cent of the average seasonal rainfall (2319 mm).
