Thane and Raigad are expected to see similar weather, with heavy to very heavy showers likely at some locations along with strong surface winds. Rainfall activity is expected to taper slightly on Monday. However, Mumbai and Thane could still receive heavy showers at a few places, while the Konkan coast will continue to face strong winds and choppy sea conditions. Authorities have urged fishermen and coastal residents to exercise caution.
The IMD has cautioned about possible localised flooding in low-lying urban areas, along with risks of tree falls and damage to weak structures due to strong winds. Commuters have been advised to monitor traffic updates and avoid waterlogged routes to prevent delays.
According to data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai recorded an average of 3.08 mm of rainfall between 8 am and 6 pm on Sunday. The Eastern Suburbs received 19.26 mm, while the Western Suburbs registered 18.25 mm during the same period.
The IMD has also highlighted the impact of tidal activity, with a high tide of 3.12 meters expected at 8:33 pm and a low tide of 1.29 meters predicted at 2:56 am on Monday.
Residents have been urged to plan travel carefully, stay clear of flooded areas, and keep track of advisories from civic bodies and weather officials.
