The water levels in lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have risen following heavy rainfall in their catchment areas. According to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) data, the combined stock in the seven reservoirs that provide water to the city now stands at 40.22 per cent or 5,82,175 mm on Monday.

Among the individual lakes, Bhatsa holds the highest stock with 244,339 ML, followed by Upper Vaitarna with 1,084,86 ML, and Middle Vaitarna at 83,758 ML. Modak Sagar and Tansa currently store 68,955 ML and 61,707 ML, respectively, while the smaller lakes Vehar and Tulsi have 11,691 ML and 3,238 ML in storage. The percentage of useful content is the highest in Modak Sagar at 53.48 per cent, followed by Upper Vaitarna at 47.78 per cent, and Vehar at 42.21 per cent.

Island city likely to witness moderate showers
Mumbai has received over 21 per cent of its annual rainfall since May, with data from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) showing steady accumulation across both the island city and suburbs. In the past 24 hours starting 8 am on Sunday, the city received 0.6 mm while the suburbs recorded 1.5 mm of rainfall.
Cumulatively, Colaba, which is representative of the city, has recorded 592 mm of rain so far this season which is 28.26 per cent of its annual average, while Santacruz has logged 512.7 mm, amounting to 22.11 per cent of its seasonal quota. Overall, the average rainfall across the city stands at 21.84 per cent of the annual account.
Meanwhile for Monday, the IMD has predicted maximum temperatures of 30.8 degrees Celsius in Colaba and 31.7 degrees Celsius in Santacruz.
The city is likely to witness a high tide of 4.28 metres at 3.48 pm.
The India Meteorological Department's Colaba observatory has forecast partly cloudy skies with a possibility of light to moderate rainfall in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the city has reported 16 incidents of tree or branch falls, 11 cases of localised power disruptions and two partial house collapses. No injuries have been reported in these incidents.
The traffic movement remained smooth across the city and suburbs as of Monday morning.
