Mumbai's Ghatkopar sewage treatment plant to be completed by March 2027, says BMC

The Mumbai sewage project is being developed under the Mumbai Sewage Disposal Project and will use Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) technology to treat sewage. The treated water will be reused for various purposes, while the project is expected to help improve seawater quality

The BMC has set a March 31, 2027 deadline to complete the 337 million litres per day (MLD) Ghatkopar sewage treatment plant, with Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar directing officials to speed up the Mumbai sewage project work and maintain adequate manpower at the site.

Bangar inspected the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) under construction at Ghatkopar East on Thursday and reviewed the progress of civil, mechanical and electrical works.
