Driving to work and back just got smoother with the Mumbai Traffic police’s ban on heavy vehicles plying in the city from 8 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, there is a ban on heavy vehicles plying in the city during the day, as it can endanger lives. Last week, the traffic department finally decided to implement the rule.
The department has informed its officers to detain heavy vehicles at a corner or in a parking plot during peak hours. Cops will keep a tab on Western and Eastern Express Highway, Dr B Ambedkar Road, LBS Marg, SV Road, Link Road and the Eastern Express Freeway.
