A 26-year-old Naval sailor, Daneshwar Sahoo, originally from Chhattisgarh and stationed at the Indian Navy’s shore establishment in south Mumbai, has gone missing. The Mumbai Police have initiated a search operation to locate him after his family reported his disappearance on August 28.

Sahoo's ordeal began when he fell ill, prompting him to seek medical attention at the INHS Asvini hospital in Colaba on July 19. Following a period of treatment, he was discharged on August 21, with the intention of resuming his duties on August 23. However, to the shock of his family, he failed to report for duty, prompting his father to receive a disconcerting call from Naval authorities.

On August 28, Sahoo's family took the matter to the Colaba police station, officially filing a missing person report. The authorities have since been actively engaged in the search for the young sailor, who seemingly vanished after his release from the hospital.

The circumstances surrounding Sahoo's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery. The sudden vanishing act of a dedicated Naval officer has prompted authorities to explore all possible avenues, including interviewing hospital staff, reviewing surveillance footage, and contacting acquaintances to gather crucial information.

As the investigation unfolds, the authorities urge anyone with information regarding Daneshwar Sahoo's whereabouts or any potential leads to come forward and assist in the search efforts.

Earlier this year, an Indian Navy sailor had mysteriously disappeared from Chennai. He was allegedly kidnapped from the southern city and was found in Maharashtra. The sailor identified as Surajkumar Dubey (27) was a leading seaman at INS Agrani in Coimbatore and was kidnapped by unknown persons outside Chennai airport. However, his family had not received any calls for ransom. When his family could not reach him and he did not rejoin duty on time, his father called the Commander of INS Agrani to enquire about him. This fuelled search for him. Reportedly, he was burnt alive in Maharashtra by his captors and he later succumbed to his burns in a hospital during treatment. He had sustained 90 per cent burns. The sailor was allegedly an avid stock market player and had debts piled up amounting to Rs 23 lakh.
