The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-police-team-on-drug-peddlers-trail-assaulted-by-mob-woman-cop-hospitalised-3-held-23336447" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai police</a> have seized LSD valued at Rs 7.95 lakh and arrested a 24-year-old engineering student and a vegetable vendor in this connection, an official said on Wednesday, reported news agency PTI.
LSD or lysergic acid diethylamide is a synthetic chemical based-drug and is categorised as a hallucinogen.
Acting on a tip-off, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/mumbai-crime-branch-arrests-3-people-for-selling-drugs-seizes-two-vehicles-with-ganja-23335593" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell</a> intercepted a car in which the student and the 23-year-old vendor were travelling on Tuesday and seized 53 blots of LSD weighing 1.32 gm from the vehicle, ANC's senior police inspector Neeraj Chowdhary said, reported PTI.
The Navi Mumbai Anti-Narcotics Cell also seized the car and two mobile phones from the accused, both hailing from Panvel in Navi Mumbai, he said, reported PTI.
As per initial investigation, the vegetable vendor had obtained the contraband from the student.
Chowdhary said the authorities have identified the source of the contraband and are in the process of apprehending more persons involved in this drug trafficking network, reported PTI.

The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-60-year-old-woman-among-two-held-with-drugs-worth-rs-12-lakh-in-palghar-23335302" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Panvel Town police</a> have registered an FIR against the duo under provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In another case, the Thane police have seized hash oil and other banned drugs valued at more than Rs 1.8 crore and arrested five persons in this connection over the last 20 days, officials said on Tuesday, reported PTI.
Hash oil, also known as cannabis oil, is a concentrated cannabis extract that can be smoked, vaped, eaten or rubbed on to the skin.
The <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/maharashtra-thane-police-busts-drugs-manufacturing-and-trafficking-racket-racket-8-held-23335517" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">crime branch</a> initially caught Rushabh Sanjay Bhalerao (28) on February 7 at Wagle Estate in Thane city of Maharashtra with hash oil and other drugs valued at more than Rs 31 lakh, police said, reported PTI.
Following his interrogation, the police nabbed Abhijit Avinash Bhoir (29), from Khardi in Shahapur, and Parag Narayan Revandkar (31), from Dombivli in Thane district, on February 20 and seized charas, ganja and other items of Rs 1,46,160, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shivraj Patil told reporters, reported PTI.
In the anti-drug operation continued further, the police on February 23 caught Raju Haribhau Jadhav (40) and Mama @ Surendra Baburao Ahire (54) from Manmad in Nashik, reported PTI.
They seized 1.38 kg of hash oil valued at Rs 1.38 crore from Jadhav and 127 gm of charas (hash oil) of Rs 12,70,000 from Ahire, the official said, reported PTI.
Efforts were on to trace the source of the hash oil and its intended purchasers, the police said.
