Two persons have been booked for allegedly vandalising a hotel in <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-crime-news/article/navi-mumbai-man-booked-for-posting-objectionable-video-about-sc-st-communities-23314343" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Navi Mumbai</a> in the early hours of Saturday, a police official said, reported news agency PTI.
The duo had ransacked the place after they were denied liquor during a party, he said, reported PTI.
"The duo also showed a revolver at the partners of the hotel who were partying there at the time. They have been booked under IPC, Maharashtra Police Act and Arms Act and efforts are on to nab them," the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/article/navi-mumbai-man-cheated-of-rs-32-lakh-in-online-fraud-23314203" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">APMC police station</a> added, reported PTI.
Meanwhile, the Navi Mumbai police have registered an offence against a man for allegedly posting an objectionable video on Facebook in which he verbally abused and threatened the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, an official said on Saturday, reported PTI.
Based on a complaint lodged by a lawyer, the police on Friday registered an offence against one Dileep Ceherekar under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, he said, reported PTI.
As per the complaint, the allegedly accused posted a video on Facebook, in which is seen verbally abusing the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities, and also giving them death threats, the official said, reported PTI.
The lawyer came across the post and lodged a complaint with the Panvel police station, he said.
In another case, police have registered cases against eight persons in Navi Mumbai for not informing the authorities, as is required under the law, while leasing out their flats or houses to tenants, an official said, reported PTI.
A first information report (FIR) was filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) against the eight persons, who gave their houses in Ulwe on rent, the official of NRI police station in Belapur said, reported PTI.
These cases of house owners not furnishing information about tenants to the police were detected on October 6 during a special operation, he said, reported PTI.
The offenders were identified as Pushpa Rathod, Kiran Rathod, Choutubai Koli, Balu Gajge, Ashok Jankar, Ashish Dheer, Aparna Jondali and Sameer Dawood Khan Deshmukh, the official said, reported PTI.
