Newly appointed Commissioner of Mumbai Police, D Sivanandan visited Siddhivinayak temple this morning, to seek divine intervention for what he hopes will be a good stint at the top of Mumbai's police brigade. The Intelligence chief will officially take charge today at noon.
Sivanandan replaces Hasan Gafoor who in a surprising move was transferred to the post of director general of Maharashtra state police housing and welfare corporation on Saturday. Even though Gafoor claims that his transfer is 'routine', this move is being perceived as a consequence of critique on Gafoor's role during the 26/11 attacks.
