PM Modi to visit Surat and Daman on June 5, unveil projects worth over Rs 22,600 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat and the Union Territory of Daman and Diu on June 5 where he is scheduled to inaugurate dedicate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth more than Rs 22600 crore The projects span sectors such as transportation healthcare industrial infrastructure power aviation tourism and maritime connectivityThe visit will cover key infrastructure and public service initiatives aimed at improving connectivity healthcare facilities and economic development across multiple regionsPM Modi to review projects in SuratThe Prime Ministers visit will begin in Gujarat where he will first visit Hazira in Surat district to review ongoing industrial operations and infrastructure projects Later in the day he will participate in a public programme in Surat where projects worth around Rs 18800 crore will be inaugurated dedicated to the nation or launched through foundation stone ceremoniesThe initiatives are expected to strengthen road networks improve industrial infrastructure and expand healthcare services across the stateVadodaraMumbai Expressway among key projectsOne of the major highlights of the visit will be the dedication of Packages VI and VII of the eightlane accesscontrolled VadodaraMumbai Expressway The project is expected to improve travel efficiency reduce transit time and enhance connectivity between Gujarat and MaharashtraThe Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the fourlaning of important stretches of National Highway56 The project is expected to improve transportation links in tribal regions and facilitate easier access to the Statue of Unity one of the countrys major tourist attractionsNew ESIC Hospital to strengthen healthcare servicesIn the healthcare sector Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a new 200bed Employees State Insurance Corporation ESIC Hospital in Surat The facility has been equipped with modern medical infrastructure and will provide a range of secondary healthcare servicesThe hospital includes a central laboratory emergency and trauma care facilities and other essential healthcare services aimed at improving treatment accessibility for workers and local residentsSeveral industrial and utility infrastructure projects will also be launched These include the expansion of Gujarats power transmission network under the InterState Transmission System which is expected to support growing industrial demand and strengthen electricity distributionInfrastructure and industrial projects across GujaratThe Prime Minister will also inaugurate a series of state government projects including power distribution upgrades in Valsad under the Revamped ReformsBased Distribution Sector Scheme Other projects include advanced effluent treatment facilities in the Dahej Petroleum Chemicals and Petrochemical Investment Region PCPIR and the Sarigam Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation GIDC along with utility infrastructure at the Jambusar Bulk Drug ParkThese projects are aimed at improving industrial efficiency environmental management and essential services in key manufacturing hubsDaman to get new airport terminal and hospitalAfter completing his engagements in Surat Prime Minister Modi will travel to Daman where he will inaugurate the new terminal building of NAMO Airport and dedicate NAMO Hospital to the nationThe airport terminal is expected to improve regional air connectivity and support tourism trade and investment in the region Meanwhile NAMO Hospital which will function as Damans district hospital has been designed to serve nearly 1500 outpatients every day and is expected to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the Union TerritoryProjects worth nearly Rs 3000 crore for DamanLater in the evening the Prime Minister will launch development projects worth approximately Rs 2970 crore in Daman Projects worth around Rs 1340 crore will be inaugurated or dedicated to the nation while foundation stones will be laid for projects valued at nearly Rs 1630 croreMajor upcoming projects include the Iconic Bridge the Daman Convention Centre and the new National Institute of Fashion Technology NIFT campus These initiatives are expected to support infrastructure development generate employment opportunities and boost tourism and investmentLakshadweep maritime projects also announcedDuring the visit Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for four projects in Lakshadweep worth around Rs 885 croreThe projects include the development of port facilities on Kalpeni Island and Kadmat Island Planned multipurpose jetties will be capable of handling large passenger vessels including cruise ships up to 300 metres longThe new infrastructure is expected to improve passenger and cargo transportation support fishing activities and strengthen tourismrelated services Officials said the projects would contribute to economic development improve maritime connectivity and support the livelihoods of local communities across the islands
