In a moment loaded with political symbolism, estranged cousins Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray will share a public stage for the first time in two decades on Saturday at the Marathi Vijay Diwas event in Worli. Despite the scale of the event, Mumbai Traffic Police confirmed there will be no special diversions, with
adequate parking and crowd control measures planned to avoid disruption to weekend commuters.

The event, marking the celebration of Marathi Vijay Diwas, will be held at the NSCI Dome in Worli. It follows the Maharashtra government’s recent decision to withdraw two controversial government resolutions (GRs) related to the implementation of the three-language policy in schools.
According to Mumbai Traffic Police, the event will not significantly affect traffic flow in the area. DCP Traffic Anil Kumbhare said, “We have not made any diversions or suggested alternate routes for the event. However, additional efforts are being made to accommodate parking for attendees arriving by vehicle.”
Since the event is scheduled for Saturday morning — from 10 am to 2 pm — officials believe that traffic volume will be manageable. The lack of diversions suggests there should be no major disruptions for commuters in the area.
The event falls under the jurisdiction of the Tardeo police. Police Inspector Rajendra Godse said, “We’re arranging parking at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and along the Coastal Road. We’re also ensuring that the event does not cause any traffic blockages.”
About 100 police personnel will be deployed to manage the event, with 80 officers specifically tasked with handling incoming traffic, according to Godse.
