On Saturday at 2.30 am, the Oshiwara police booked the 40-year-old director for allegedly abusing an actress named Ritu Khanna, who features in TV shows like 'Jhansi Ki Rani', 'Main Lakshmi Tere Aangan Ki' and 'Crime Patrol'. She was at a Lokhandwala coffee shop with her boyfriend Rohit Kapoor.
According to sources, Rakesh was under the influence of alcohol when he visited the coffee shop at 11.30 pm on Friday with a few friends. The actress filed a complaint at Oshiwara Police station at 3 am on Saturday. &ldquo;She has stated that Rakesh ordered a coffee, and after a few minutes, he, along with his friends, passed lewd comments at her. They even tried to click her photographs from their cell phones,&rdquo; said Senior PI Subhash Khanvilkar.
Sawant was booked under IPC section 504 (abusing) and 509 (eve-teasing), and later released on bail.
