Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who was admitted to Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute on Monday, will undergo cardiac surgery on Wednesday after preliminary testing was conducted in the hospital.
Dr Ramakanat Panda and his team will conduct the operation on the former Bihar chief minister&nbsp;.
Dr Panda had earlier in 2009 headed the team that had undertaken a 14-hour bypass surgery on former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in New Delhi's AIIMS hospital.&nbsp;

The former Union Minister underwent a detailed health evaluation at the Mumbai hospital following which the decision was taken to go ahead with surgery.
Speaking to mid-day, Dr Vijay D&rsquo;Silva, medical director of the hospital, said, "He will undergo an aortic valve replacement along with a surgical repair of the aorta. The procedure will take around four to six hours and will be conducted on Wednesday morning at around 8am."
"His condition is stable as of Tuesday evening and though he is admitted, he is active and moving around his room. He&rsquo;s on a normal diet and prepared for the operation," added Dr D&rsquo;Silva.
Earlier in a statement, Dr D'Silva had stated that while the former Union minister "fundamentally a healthy person, as can be seen from the intense campaigning he has done, he would still require surgery".
The aortic valve replacement is an open-heart surgery and doctors say &rsquo;s valve was affected due to blockage. "Unlike a coronary heart ailment where you can tell the percent of blockage, that isn't the case when a valve gets blocked," he said. After an aortic valve replacement, a patient needs to stay in the intensive care unit for 12-36 hours depending on the recovery period and the patient is given a discharge four days later unless there are any other complications.
Last year, the 66-year-old politician was admitted to Delhi's AIIMS along with Sharad Yadav after they complained of uneasiness. Doctors said his blood pressure was high at the time.
