Currently in jail on the charges of murdering her daughter Sheena Bora, Indrani Mukerjea yesterday filed a bail application in the CBI court. The application says Indrani is suffering from blackouts and should be given bail on medical grounds, so that she can recover and be fit to face her ongoing trial.

The 17-page application filed by her lawyer Gunjan Mangla says, "Given the deteriorating medical condition of Indrani, it is essential in the interest of justice that Indrani should be given bail for proper medical care for her recovery and congenial environment so that she will efficaciously prepare her defence and be fit to face the trial."
The application states that Indrani is suffering from &lsquo;chronic small vessels ischemic changes&rsquo;, and as a result of this, the supply of oxygen to her brain may get interrupted, which may result in a brain stroke.
The application also states that Indrani who was already fragile, is stressed and in trauma because of her mother&rsquo;s demise, which she learnt about after 7-8 days. The news could have severely affected her health, the application says. She has also said that she gets blackouts time and again.
Indrani reportedly suffers from visual impairment and giddiness. She also vomited blood and has lost 18 kilograms in 4 months. While in jail, she was also suffering from chest pain, discomfort, disturbed sleep, heart burn, pain in abdomen, restlessness, palpitation, and insomnia.
The application also contains a detailed report about the time Indrani was admitted at the JJ hospital after she fell unconscious in jail. The application states that there is no immediate care/attention provided to her in jail since authorities are required to follow due procedure.
