The drinking water supply to five Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) wards in the island city — A, B, C, E, and F South — was suspended from 10 am on Wednesday, and the cut will be in force 4 pm on Thursday.

While the BMC issued an advisory to citizens to use water judiciously during these 18 hours, citizen groups also appealed to residents to use water sparingly. The suspension of the water supply prompted housing societies to turn to water tankers and conservation methods.
