Mumbai: A student was caught copying during the SSC exam yesterday and was also found with a copy of Algebra question paper by the chief coordinator.
A 16-year-old boy named Sunil Jadhav (name changed) has been caught cheating in the Maths paper at Y B Chavan School at Kandivali (W) by the chief conductor during the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination.
The boy, who is a private candidate, was appearing for the revised course exam. He was initially caught copying by the supervisor, who later frisked him and found one copy of the Algebra question paper set with him. Soon after, the boy was handed over to the Kandivali police station.
The Board Chairman Laxmikant Pandey was also informed about the incident and was called to inquire into the matter. The principal of the school S Kumbhar and other chief conductor and invigilators filed a police complaint.
Hareshwar Pimple, senior inspector, Kandivali (W), said, "The matter has come to us and we are in a process of filing an FIR against the student who was caught copying and found with a board question paper with him. The boy has been booked under Section 7 of Maharashtra University Board and Exam Prevention of Malpractice Act 1982. The boy was caught by complainant Bharat Sonavane, assistant teacher and supervisor."
Laxmikant Pandey, chairman of the Mumbai Divisional Board, said, "The boy has been caught and taken to the police station. I was informed so I came to meet the school officials. We will conduct an inquiry and the report will be sent to Pune State Board chairman G K Mhamane."
