Tata Power unveils Rs 15,000 crore Mumbai transmission expansion plan through FY31

At the core of the expansion plan is a 400 kV transmission ring connecting Vikhroli, Dharavi, Mahalaxmi, Sewree and Trombay, along with a 765 kV link to Dolvi. The proposed network is expected to significantly enhance Mumbai's ability to import power from the national grid and integrate large-scale renewable energy sources

Tata Power has announced a Rs 15,000 crore transmission network expansion plan for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), including the development of a 400 kV ring network across Mumbai and the addition of nine new Extra High Voltage (EHV) substations by FY31.
The company said the project is aimed at strengthening Mumbai's power infrastructure and meeting the region's rapidly growing electricity demand, which is projected to increase from 4,642 MW in 2026 to 6,500 MW by 2031.
