A total of 9,17,123 voters exercised their franchise in the elections to the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), recording an overall voter turnout of 55.59 per cent, officials said on Friday.
According to polling data from the elections held on Thursday, January 15, voting was conducted across 2,013 polling stations in 33 municipal wards. The total electorate stood at 16,49,869 registered voters, comprising 8,63,879 men, 7,85,831 women and 159 voters in the ‘other’ category.
Of these, 4,83,698 men, 4,33,385 women and 40 voters from the ‘other’ category cast their votes, Commissioner and Election Officer Saurabh Rao informed.
Ward-wise turnout figures showed that the Majiwada Ward Committee, covering wards 1, 2, 3 and 8, recorded a turnout of 54.75 per cent, while the Vartak Nagar Ward Committee, comprising wards 4, 5 and 7, saw 54.86 per cent voting. Lokmanya Savarkar Nagar, which includes wards 6, 13, 14 and 15, registered a turnout of 58.09 per cent.
The Wagle Ward Committee (wards 16, 17 and 18) reported a turnout of 55.53 per cent, while the Naupada–Kopri area, covering wards 19, 20, 21 and 22, recorded 59.79 per cent polling. Uthalsar, which includes wards 10, 11 and 12, registered the highest turnout at 60.60 per cent.
In Kalwa, covering wards 9, 23, 24 and 25, voter turnout stood at 54.29 per cent. The Mumbra area recorded comparatively lower participation, with wards 26 and 31 registering 47.59 per cent turnout and wards 30 and 32 recording 49.15 per cent. In Diva, wards 27 and 28 saw a turnout of 57.37 per cent, while wards 29 and 33 recorded 56.45 per cent.
Officials said the polling process was conducted smoothly across all wards.

Meanwhile, a voter turnout of 52.94 per cent was recorded in the Mumbai civic polls, down from 55.53 per cent in the last elections in 2017, officials said on Friday.
According to data released by the civic body, ward number 114 in suburban Bhandup recorded the highest turnout at 64.53 per cent, while ward number 227 in south Mumbai's Colaba area reported the lowest turnout at 20.88 per cent.
Of the over 1.03 crore eligible voters in the metropolis, 52.94 per cent exercised their franchise on Thursday between 7.30 am and 5.30 pm, they said. More than 15 hours after the polling, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared the final voter turnout.
Officials said counting of votes will start at 10 am at 25 designated counting centres across Mumbai.
The turnout on Thursday showed a steady rise, with 6.98 per cent voting till 9.30 am, 17.73 per cent till 11.30 am, 29.96 per cent till 1.30 pm and 41.08 per cent till 3.30 pm, officials said.
The last BMC polls were held in 2017 with a voter turnout of 55.53 per cent, and the term of the elected body ended in March 2022.
