A car in Thane caught fire on Wednesday evening; no one was injured in the mishap. The incident, according to the civic disaster management unit, happened on Ghodbunder Road and authorities immediately responded to the alert.
According to the officials, the fire broke out in a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R car near Brahmand signal around 6.43 pm. Two persons were travelling inside the car that was enveloped with blaze--the driver Jaywant Thakur and passenger Santosh Mohite--who were rescued in the nick of time by onlookers.

Although the car was completely gutted, due to prompt response from city traffic police personnel, police officers, Chitalsar police station staff, fire brigade personnel, and disaster management cell personnel, major mishap could be averted.
Officials said that the fire was completely put out by 7.25 pm and that the situation is now under control.
Recently, in another incident, two brothers died and three others were injured in a car fire in Sion around 5 am. The incident occurred on BA Road near the Sion flyover when the vehicle struck a road divider during a joyride after a party. The Sion police filed an accidental death report (ADR) after taking statements from survivors. The car suddenly caught fire, and its occupants were unable to escape. Local residents notified fire and police personnel who rushed to the scene.
The deceased were identified as Prem Waghela (18) and Ajay Waghela (20). Other passengers, Haresh Kadam (19), Kunal Atar (33), and Ritesh Bhoir (25), managed to exit the car, while Ajay Mulji Waghela (21) and Pravin Mulji Waghela (18) suffered severe burns.
An official from Sion police station stated that all the car occupants were from Mankhurd. They were en route to Marine Drive in south Mumbai for a joyride after a party. The victims were taken to Sion Hospital, where both Waghela brothers were declared dead on arrival. Kadam sustained 70% burns, and another passenger, Kunal Atar, was also admitted to the hospital. Bhoir suffered minor injuries.
The incident resulted in both left-side door locks of the car jamming, preventing the occupants from escaping. Fire personnel later extinguished the flames and transported the injured individuals to Sion Hospital.
