Cops from Dahisar police station have nabbed three people for possessing drugs worth Rs 5 lakh, which was allegedly to be sold at New Year's Eve parties. Cops say the three -- Shammo Badilal Khan urf Munni, Sajid Abdul Qureshi and Vivek Ram Asre -- were nabbed at Dahisar check naka as they were making their way into city limits.

According to cops, on December 25, they received a tip-off that there would be a few people entering the city to meet a drug peddler to sell the sample. Senior Inspector Ansar Pirjade said that the trio had believed that if they got a good price for their wares, they would smuggle in more drugs for 31st night.

"The trio initially hailing from Uttar Pradesh made their way to Pune and then took a private car to enter the city. However, at the check naka, they were caught with around 100 grams of drugs in a hand bag," Pirjade added.

The accused were produced in court and have been remanded to police custody till December 31.
