Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for referring to him as the "nakli santaan" (false child) of late Balasaheb Thackeray, claiming that he would not tolerate insults aimed at his parents.
Thackeray slammed the PM's insulting statements while speaking at a rally in Srirampur, Ahmednagar, in support of his party's Shirdi Lok Sabha candidate Bhausaheb Wakchaure. He questioned how the Prime Minister could dishonour his parents by paying homage to the late Shiv Sena founder's Shivaji Park memorial during his May 17 visit to Mumbai, reported PTI.

The report added that Thackeray stated that he was ready to meet the Prime Minister in a political struggle, but that he would not allow any insults directed at his parents. He emphasised the PM's previous encounters with him during the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, noting that despite seeking his signature, Modi was now attacking his party.

Shiv Sena (UBT) head Uddhav Thackeray defended his party from criticism, replying to statements made by Maharashtra head Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis over NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar's remark on future mergers with Congress.
Thackeray questioned Shinde and Fadnavis' characterization of the Shiv Sena as a "small party," alleging that they were under the influence of cannabis when making such statements.
Taking a shot at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Thackeray noted that, unlike in previous elections, Modi appeared to have no outstanding concerns to address during the current campaign, implying that he was resorting to religious chants out of fear of losing.
"I had heard in my childhood that if someone is scared of ghosts, he should chant 'Ram, Ram'. Since he is scared of defeat, he is going around the country chanting the name of Ram," said Thackeray, reported PTI.
