IN PHOTOS: Mumbai reported 9,470 heart attack deaths in 2022, reveals BMC data

According to the data provided by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) Public Health Department, in 2022, a total of 94,538 people died due to communicable and non-communicable diseases. Dr Ajay Chaurasia, head of cardiology at BYL Nair Hospital said, “The disease mostly seen in senior citizens is now being seen in younger people. The biggest reason behind heart disease is a sedentary lifestyle. Also, people are consuming junk food like there is no tomorrow. Stress due to work, family, relationships, career, and education also goes on accumulating. People are not taking  time out to spend with family, friends and doing exercise and meditation"

One has to live a stress-free life, stop having alcohol and tobacco, meditate, eat fruits and vegetables, and do moderate physical activity according to the demands of one’s age”
