The hopes of the thousands Bhopal gas tragedy victims were dashed yesterday, as the court of chief judicial magistrate, while holding the accused guilty of criminal negligence, granted them bail soon after. Even as they thought justice would be served, the accused seemed to have been let off easier than what the victims had wanted.

"I lost my entire family in the tragedy. Some died that fateful night, while others suffered the effects of the gas leak for a long time before they passed away. I cannot forgive the perpetrators. They must be given the death sentence. They should feel the pain that we have been suffering for the last 25 years. We will challenge the verdict in the high court and will get justice for the five lakh people who are still dying," said Hasina Bi (50) who has lost 48 family members till date.
