Victim critical, Sub-Inspector suspended

Do guns make you nervous? Well, if you see one in the hands of a Noida police personnel, you have good reason to be. On Sunday morning a labourer was injured by a bullet accidentally fired from a Sub-Inspector's carbine at Labour Chowk in Noida, Sector-57.

Chatar Singh, deployed with PCR van no. 13, was apparently cleaning his weapon when he accidentally pressed the trigger and a bullet hit Vicky who was working nearby. Vicky, a resident of Khoda village, was rushed to the nearby Kailash hospital where his condition is stated to be critical but stable.

Immediately after the incident, a mob gathered at the spot. Hundreds of labourers blocked the road, demanding action against the culprit. By then the cop had fled the scene. Senior Superintendent of Police A K Singh suspended Chatar Singh and ordered filing of an FIR against him.
