'We failed to give best security to the stadium'

Top cop accepts that the Chinnaswamy stadium wasn't provided the best security; says it will not be repeated again. Manjunath L Hanji reports
In a bid to retain the IPL semi-final matches in Bangalore, the city police tried its best to divert people's attention from the explosions by playing down the incident.

It didn't resort to the standard operating procedure, which required the stadium and it's surroundings to be sealed. And finally, the city police commissioner has accepted the lapse on polices' part.
Shankar Bidari, accepted that there was a security lapse at the stadium.
He said, "We failed to give the best security to the stadium. We have learnt our lesson and won't repeat it again. In fact, now we'll make security arrangements at least 36 hours prior to the game."
