Assam floods: Army deployed as over 1.7 lakh people affected across 12 districts

The Indian Army has been deployed across several districts of Upper Assam as floods worsened, affecting more than 1.7 lakh people in 12 districts. While the flood death toll in Assam remains at five, neighbouring Nagaland reported four deaths and five people missing due to flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain

The Indian Army was deployed in several districts of Upper Assam to rescue stranded people as the flood situation in the state deteriorated severely on Monday, with more than 1.7 lakh people affected across 12 districts.
The death toll in this year’s floods remained at five. A total of 580 villages are inundated, while 10,362.9 hectares of crop have been damaged.
