Besides something as big as the Commonwealth Games that's happening in town, there is still lots more that can lure Dilliwallas thanks to its unique concept. 'Jashne Bachpan', a festival of plays by the children and for the children, is currently taking place in the Capital.



Apart from theatre lovers, this festival is also targeted at the CWg crowd. This is the 10th edition of the festival and this time round, performers from Germany, Bangladesh and Nepal are the special feature.

Chuck what's passive
Happening under Sanskaar Rang Toli of National School of Drama, the sole intention of the festival is to bridge the gap between the passive education system and the active method oflearning.

When Sanskaar Rang Toli was formed in 1989, it initially worked and interacted with various theatre personalities and groups, who were active in practising theatre and drama with and for children across the country. It was then that they hit upon the idea of bringing the major works in children's theatre together on a single platform.

The first ever National Theatre Festival for Children, 'Jashne Bachpan' started in 1998. Since then, it has shaped up as a confluence of children's plays from different parts of the country. Delhi provides these theatre groups active in urban areas with a platform to reveal their urban sensibilities through their works.
