Blasts staff for severing him cold coffee in a meeting called to discuss BBMP preparedness to check outbreak of any disease this monsoon

The civic body had called for a meeting at its headquarters yesterday to discuss the preparedness of BBMP staff and its hospitals in case of emergencies during monsoon.

However, problems that concern Bangaloreans the most, got at the bottom of list of issues to be discussed, as netas got busy with something that they thought was more important.

The meeting was going on smoothly until a person served Mayor SK Natraj (pictured) a cup of coffee. No sooner did Natraj hold the cup in his hand, he lost his cool and came down heavily on the BBMP staff.

The reason: The coffee was cold. "Not only he reprimanded the person, he also directed him to either serve the coffee hot, or not serve it at all," said a source.

Soon after, BS Satyanarayana, leader of the ruling party at the BBMP, took charge.

He reportedly created a ruckus in the meeting, as the mayor's photograph was missing from the pamphlets that were printed by the civic body to create health awareness among Bangaloreans.

Satyanarayana calmed down after issuing strict directives to the officials to rectify this mistake.

"He's more concerned about the mayor's picture on a leaflet and not the health issues faced by the people. This certainly was not in the agenda of the meeting," said a disgruntled BBMP officer.

However, the corporators, who let down officials with discussing topics not in the agenda, managed to be get back on track after a while.

They issued some stern directives to check outbreak of any disease this monsoon. When contacted, BBMP officials preferred not to speak on what had happened behind closed doors.

"It was just a small confusion. The ruling party leader saw pamphlets that didn't have the mayor's picture. However, those pamphlets were old," said Dr S Khandre, public relation officer, BBMP.
