Meanwhile, the surroundings of the statue attracted so much garbage that the BBMP recently decided to spend Rs 15,000-a-month to deploy three security personnel to ensure the place is clean.
The 15-ft statue of Sangolli Rayanna, a close confidant of Kittur Rani Channamma, was sanctioned by the state government in 2005 and completed in 2008 and has been under wraps since then.
