Residency Club goes for Gujarati village theme

The word Navratri is synonymous with fasting, feasting and the much-awaited Dandiya Raas. A form of folk dance performed in honour of Durga, the music involves a lot of drumbeats as well as dhol and tabla. Here is a lowdown on the most happening Dandiya night in the city.

The Residency club has a special theme ufffd Gujarati Ethnic Village ufffd for the Dandiya season this year. The club will also have mehandi artists, tattoo artists with bangle sellers around.

"We have tried our best to bring Gujarat to Pune so that the crowd gets a feel of the festive spirit," said Savio Mascarenhas, manager. "We have also paid more attention on the food counter."

Music India Dandiya Dil Se, a live band of 13 members, will be performing a fusion of Gujarati and Bollywood music.

The club will serve a three-course meal which will be strictly vegetarian. You can pamper your taste buds with aloo tikki, chole bhature for starters and mini meals like palak puri with aloo mutter for the main course, while desserts include masala milk, piping hot jalebis and gulab jamuns served with ice cream.
