Delhi’s overall air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Friday morning, with an AQI reading of 384. A total of 20 monitoring stations recorded ‘very poor’ air quality, while 18 fell in the ‘severe’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app.
The city has been battling poor air quality for the last 14 days. As per the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 to 100 “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 “moderate”, 201 to 300 “poor”, 301 to 400 “very poor” and 401 to 500 “severe”.

Kejriwal seeks GST scrapping on purifiers
Former CM Arvind Kejriwal demanded that the government immediately remove 18 per cent GST imposed on air and water purifiers, in view of the worsening AQI. “In Delhi and across North India, the air has become deadly. Instead of providing solutions, the government is collecting more taxes from the public,” Kejriwal said in a post on X.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi demanded a detailed discussion in Parliament on the issue of air pollution as he questioned the silence of PM on this “health emergency”. “Modi ji, India’s children are choking in front of us. How can you stay silent? Why does your government show no urgency, no plan, no accountability?” he asked in a post on X.
