He was arrested in the city on Monday and was presented before a Delhi court yesterday, a Delhi police official said. “The court sent Firoz to five days in police custody,” he said. Firoz is the 28th accused to be arrested in the spot-fixing scam that was exposed by the Delhi police last month. He had been managing money and betting-related issues between Dawood Ibrahim and other bookies for several years.

“After the death of Jahid, another conduit, Firoz came in contact with ‘D company’. He was deputed to take care of the betting syndicate. He informed bookies about the betting rates decided by Dawood. His role came to light after the arrest of bookie Ramesh Vyas, who is in the custody of Delhi police,” the officer said. During interrogation, Vyas revealed that Firoz would pass Dawood’s messages to him and other bookies.
