The maximum temperature recorded at 5.30 pm on Thursday evening was 22.4 degrees Celsius, a drop of seven degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was four degrees above average at 15.6 degrees Celsius.

"Today's maximum temperature was the lowest in the last five years. Temperatures dropped across northern India following snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh," said an official from IMD. In the morning, a thin layer of fog blanketed the city affecting traffic on most roads. The skies remained overcast throughout the day while some areas experienced drizzles. According to the Met office, the temperature will fluctuate between 15 and 24 degrees Celsius today.
