Calls from distressed students pour in at SSLC helpline launched last week
In a bid to ease stress during exams and to provide timely counselling to students, the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) launched the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) Helpline onu00a0 March 24.
Just four days after the launch, on March 28, the helpline received maximum number of calls 107 to be precise from distressed students and parents.
Govind Gowda, the senior assistant director of KSEEB, said, "The students who had called-in talked about stress and anxiety that they had about their forthcoming exams.
And amusingly, there were students who requested us to provide them with the possible questions that may be asked during their exams."
Dr C R Chandrashekar, head of psychiatry at National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), who has been appointed as a counsellor for the helpline, said, "I empathise with students. It's natural to feel pressurised during crucial exams."
Though there maybe students who have called up to seek help, Divya Jose, a Std X student of Delhi Public School, said, "I don't believe in helplines, as I have my parents who are my pillars of strength."
