Nazrin Ansari, who earned her MBBS degree in spite of paralysis in her left leg from polio, was deemed ineligible for a PG course on grounds of her 86% disability, even though medical tests elsewhere established only a 50% handicap; not one to turn back, she took on the establishment and won a court battle.
Dr Nazrin Ansari is no stranger to adversity. Stricken with polio at the tender age of two, the 23-year-old resident of Pune has staggered painfully past many hurdles, beating the odds of poverty and physical disability to pass her MBBS exam and join the elite community of doctors.u00a0
