Fugitive opens fire after snatching cop’s pistol, caught after chase on Yamuna Expressway

Waseem Akram alias Lambu, 29, who is wanted in a murder case in Delhi, allegedly snatched a service pistol from an officer and opened fire at the police team around midnight on August 11.

During his transit from West Bengal to Delhi, a fugitive criminal attempted an escape during a restroom break, injuring one policeman in an ensuing shootout before being apprehended after a brief chase on the Mathura stretch of the Yamuna Expressway, an official said on Thursday.
