A year-wise breakdown shows rising revenue, with Rs 603.76 crore earned in 2023-24 alone. The government is now identifying alternate sites for relocating offshore casinos from the Mandovi River.

During the ongoing Goa Assembly session, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said that the Goa government in the last five years has earned more than Rs 1,661 crore as recurring fees from onshore and offshore casinos. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, while providing a written reply in the assembly, informed about this massive government receipt.
As reported by news agency PTI, while answering through a written reply on Tuesday to a starred question in the House, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant provided a year-wise breakdown of the revenue collected as annual recurring fees from all licensed casinos operating in the coastal state.
As per the reports from PTI, the question about the revenue generation from the casinos in Goa was tabled by BJP MLA Michael Lobo.
Casinos in Goa are surely one of the major tourist attractions. Along with being a great tourist attraction, most of them generate massive revenue. Goa, a state mostly reliant on tourism, has seen an immense amount of revenue generated from the casinos in the last five years.
Along with giving a breakdown of revenue generation from casinos, the CM also informed that there are six offshore casinos and more than a dozen onshore casinos in the state.
As per the data, the state earned Rs 186.35 crore during the financial year 2021-22 in the form of annual recurring fees, according to news agency PTI.
The CM further asserted that “Rs 353.78 crore was earned during the financial year 2022-23, Rs 603.76 crore in 2023-24, Rs 132.52 crore from April 1, 2024, to February 28, 2025, and Rs 384.85 crore from March 1 to July 10 this year. The total amount collected over the five-year period stands at Rs 1,661.27 crore," cited by news agency PTI.
Asked if the government has identified a permanent alternative location for relocating the offshore casinos from the Mandovi River. The Goa Chief Minister, while replying, said that the government, along with the Captain of Ports Department, was in the process of identifying alternate sites for permanently relocating the offshore casinos.
