A woman allegedly killed her one-year-old daughter following a dispute with her husband, a labourer, over returning home late in Maharashtra's Latur district, police said, reported news agency PTI.

The woman, aged 30, has been arrested in connection with the incident that occurred on Monday in the Shyam Nagar area, reported PTI.


Her 34-year-old husband, who works as a daily wage labourer, returned home late in the early hours of Monday.



Enraged after an argument with her husband, the woman allegedly picked up a sharp knife from the house and stabbed her daughter on her face, abdomen, chest, waist, head and private parts. The toddler died on the spot, a police official said on Tuesday, reported PTI.

Based on a complaint by the child's father, the police arrested the woman on Monday and booked her on charges of murder, he added.

Biker assaulted in road rage incident in Mumbai; one held

In another case, a 29-year-old man sustained injuries after he was assaulted by six people in a road rage incident in the eastern suburbs here, police said on Monday, reported PTI.

The police have arrested one of the accused in connection with the attack that occurred on New Mill Road in Kurla on Sunday evening, and a search has been launched for the others involved, an official said, reported PTI.

The victim, Asim Kaushendra Pratap Singh, was riding his motorcycle when it collided with another two-wheeler. An argument ensued, and the other rider and his aides allegedly assaulted Singh, he said, reported PTI.

The official said the victim sustained serious head injuries in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Following the incident, hundreds of residents gathered outside the Kurla police station demanding the immediate arrest of all those involved.

A case has been registered under section 109 (attempt to murder) and provisions related to rioting under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and a probe is underway, the official added.

History-sheeter booked for trying to strangle woman, threatening to kill her family in Thane

Meanwhile, police in Maharashtra's Thane district have booked a history-sheeter for allegedly attempting to strangle a 36-year-old woman and threatening to kill her family, an official said on Friday, reported PTI.

The accused, identified as Akshay Kurtadkar, had previously been externed from the area due to his criminal record, reported PTI.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon in the Badlapur area. According to the complainant, who is a housewife, Kurtadkar asked her to meet him on January 13, threatening her that he knew her son's school schedule, reported PTI.

When she arrived at the location, Kurtadkar allegedly tried to force her into an autorickshaw and threatened to make her private videos viral. When she resisted, he allegedly attempted to strangle her and threatened to kill her minor son and vandalise her brother's shop, reported PTI.

Police said a case has been registered against Kurtadkar for attempt to murder, criminal intimidation and other charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The Maharashtra Police Act has also been invoked against him for violating the externment orders, the official added.
