Beed Collector Vivek Johnson visited several sites in Wadwani, Dharur and Parli tehsils to resolve land acquisition hurdles for railway projects, hearing grievances from stakeholders, officials said on Sunday.
Work on the ambitious Beed–Parli Vaijnath railway corridor project is currently underway. The project is being seen as a game-changer for the district and the region, as it will improve connectivity to Mumbai and Pune, two of Maharashtra’s largest cities and major economic hubs, PTI reported.
During the field visit, Johnson, accompanied by railway, district and state officials, reviewed sites in Bavi and Lonwal villages in Wadwani tehsil and examined technical issues that had stalled land acquisition, an official said.
“The collector also looked into grievances raised by residents of Deodahiphal, Chatgaon and Fakir Jawala villages in Dharur tehsil. He visited Parli, Khamgaon, Tapovan, Mulnatpur, Bahadurwadi, Tokwadi and Brahmwadi, where he interacted with farmers and affected citizens,” the official added, the news agency reported.
With the resolution of land-related concerns and technical constraints, authorities confirmed that the right-of-way required for the railway alignment has now been cleared, paving the way for uninterrupted execution of the project.
Johnson directed railway authorities to complete critical technical work on the project by May 15, ahead of the monsoon, the official said.
“This railway line is crucial for the overall development of Beed district. Minor land-related obstacles have been resolved on the spot, and the railway administration must now expedite work within the stipulated timeframe,” Johnson said, reported PTI.
The Ahilyanagar–Beed railway corridor was opened for train traffic on September 17 last year.
Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project moves ahead, second TBM work begins at Sawli near Ghansoli
Meanwhile, the assembly of the second Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project has begun at Sawli near Ghansoli, marking a key milestone in the construction of the high-speed rail corridor, officials said on Saturday.
They said that the TBM is being assembled at a depth of 39 metres below ground level. Once completed, the machine will begin tunnelling from Sawli towards Vikhroli, forming an important underground stretch of the project.
An official statement said that a major component of the TBM, a gantry weighing around 190 metric tonnes, has been successfully lowered into the shaft. The structure measures approximately 18 metres in length, 10 metres in width and 9 metres in height.
In total, four gantries will be installed in each TBM. These will be attached to the main shield assembly and cutterhead.
