In view of heavy rainfall and flood-like conditions in parts of Maharashtra, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed six teams across the state to support relief and rescue operations.
Two teams each have been sent to Solapur and Dharashiv, while Beed and Latur have received one team each. Additionally, NDRF units stationed in Pune, Mumbai, Thane, and Nagpur have been placed on high alert for rapid deployment to assist local authorities, if needed.
Santosh Bahadur Singh, NDRF Pune Commandant, briefed officials about the deployments, assuring that the force is fully prepared to provide all possible support to affected districts.
“These deployments reflect NDRF’s prompt response, operational readiness, and preparedness to safeguard lives and property during emergencies,” a press note by the state read.
The move amid a red alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), warning of heavy rainfall in the state, with the potential for urban flooding in several districts.
