The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for several districts of Maharashtra, forecasting light spells of rain over the next three hours.
A nowcast warning, issued at 4 pm on January 27, stated that parts of Maharashtra including Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Satara and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar were likely to experience light rains and thunder.
Separately, Dhule and Jalgaon districts in state were likely to witness light rain accompanied by the possibility of thunder and lightning in some areas, the alert predicted on Tuesday.
The IMD has advised residents in the affected districts to remain alert and take necessary precautions during the warning period.

Mumbai witnesses second spell of unseasonal rain in January
Several parts of Mumbai and adjoining areas received unseasonal rain on Tuesday morning, marking the second such spell in the city this month, officials said, reported news agency PTI.
Unlike the heavy showers recorded on January 1, Tuesday’s rainfall was largely mild, with most areas witnessing brief spells of light rain or drizzle. While the island city and suburbs saw light drizzle, parts of the eastern suburbs, especially the Ghatkopar–Bhandup belt, experienced slightly heavier rainfall. The city had remained under cloudy skies since Monday.
A civic official said the IMD issued a nowcast warning at 7 am, forecasting light rain over Mumbai and neighbouring Thane district. A yellow alert was issued for three hours, with residents advised to take necessary precautions.

Meanwhile, Thane reported an air quality index of 108, and in Kalyan, the AQI is 117, categorised as moderate, while Navi Mumbai recorded a satisfactory AQI of 88, which may cause minor breathing discomfort to sensitive individuals.
