We discovered a fun new food haven where you'll feel glad at getting deserted Mediza a Mediterranean restaurant
A crowded market, turtle-paced traffic, no entry boards and parking problemsu00a0amongst all this chaos stands Mediza, a Mediterranean restaurant that justifies all the hassles you need to face to get here. We entered the place with apprehension, and left with approval. An account.
Food: The menu here is one tempting spread. Since we wanted to grab a bite of most of the dishes, we started with veg and non veg mezze platters (Rs 315 and Rs 415 respectively)u00a0selections that didn't disappoint. It had a bit of everything from kibbeh, meat fatayer and shish taouk to several other vegetarian delights. Those who like soups can start with the minestrone soup (Rs 95) that gets a thumbs-up from us, seafood chowder (Rs 165) and shorba dijaj bil lemon (Rs 145).

If you don't want to deviate from the calorie intake that your nutritionist has subscribed, order a combination of vegetarian salads like Turkish Salad (Rs 135) and Fattoush Salad (Rs 135). But when we go out reviewing restaurants, we happily forget weighing machines. So, for main course, we picked dijaj mishwey (chicken served with rice-Rs 275) and green vegetables (Rs 235), which were good enough to help us get over our guilt. A sugarcoated end came in the form of chocolate lava (Rs 150). The Malabiya (Rs 125), and blueberry cheesecake (Rs 175), if not the ummali pudding (Rs 125), are other choices.
Drinks: Thankfully, the eatery, unlike most other new ones, has received its liquor license, and boasts of a generous stock of wines, whiskeys, rum et al. We opted for classic cocktails like sex on the beach (Rs 325), martini (Rs 325 each) and pina colada (Rs 275). Teetotalers can sip on beach beauty, Mediza cooler or Italian smooch. (Rs 125 each), apart from a variety of juices and fresh lime soda.
Ambience: Dim lights in a red-black du00c3u00a9cor superbly set the mood for an evening of fun at this 80-seater joint. Spread over three floors, the place houses a lounge, casual diner section and terrace for private parties. The Musicu00a0funky firangi, from trance to rock, and retro to hip hop, but it's far from being blaringly loud. "We consciously try that the music does not overpower the dining experience," said Rickey Randhawa, director. Next on their list is a formal Indian platter. We're waiting!
