Dharavi redevelopment project
In order to rehabilitate more people in the buildings it is erecting as part of the Dharavi redevelopment project (DRP), the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has decided to bring the ceiling of an apartment closer to the floor by a foot in the houses yet to be built. From 10.25 feet, the height of a room will now be 9.25 feet. This will help MHADA squeeze out an additional floor -- that is, 8-10 more flats -- in the buildings it hasn’t begun construction on.
