Nephew alleges property scam, files complaint with Anti-Corruption Branch

They say never wash dirty linen in public. But if it brings along the hope of justice, Parvinder Singh has no qualms.

Singh, a railway contractor and nephew of Delhi police inspector Mahender Singh, alleges that his uncle has amassed property worth Rs 4 crore and has illegally occupied his house in Daryaganj, refusing to vacate it.

As per the complaint filed with Delhi police and Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Mahender has two DDA flats, one in Dwarka and one in Nasir Pur, has a shop in Expo Mart in Greater Noida, a jewellery shop in Chandni Chowk, a house in Jaipur and shares worth Rs 85 lakh.u00a0 A copy of the complaint is with MiD DAY.u00a0

However, the market value of the property exceeds Rs 6 crore and even the complainant has failed to mention the real value.

"In 1974, my uncle joined as a constable in technical division of the Delhi police. He went on to become an inspector and retired on April 30. During his tenure, he earned money disproportionate to his known source of income. Moreover, he had not informed the department about his assets and hasn't even paid tax to the I-T department," alleges Singh.

"A person, who already owns a DDA flat, cannot apply for another one. But my uncle furnished a wrong affidavit to DDA and got the second flat," adds Singh.
Parvinder Singh further stated that his uncle was claiming House Rent Allowance (HRA) from his department using fake rent receipts and had even forged his mother's signature.

"The present accommodation - 7/20, Ram Tel Bhawan on Ansari Road in Daryaganj - of my uncle belongs to us. He had never paid us rent and neither have we ever given him a rent receipt. Earlier, we used to live in the same house and my father had given him a room in the building as he didn't have any other place in Delhi.
