Desi inspirations
Ask her about the first image that pops in the head when she thinks of India and design, and Marie Lundström replies, "A newly dyed pink cloth of high quality cotton." The Creative Director of IKEA India is one of the speakers at a one-day design forum scheduled at the MMRDA grounds on February 17. She will join the likes of visual artists Jiten Thukran and Sumir Tagra, and Netherlands-based 3D printing expert Joris Van Tubergen. "I am inspired by many things Indian, which include all hand painted trucks and signage, and the weaving technique, too," adds Lundström, who shifted to Gurgaon last year and is busy decoding the furnishing brand's research on the Indian way of life, which will prove handy when she finally sets shop here.
