NDA candidate and Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan filed his nomination for Vice President on Wednesday, accompanied by PM Modi and senior Union Ministers. Radhakrishnan, a two-term MP from Coimbatore, has also served as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana.

A day after the INDIA bloc announced its Vice President candidate, NDA’s CP Radhakrishnan on Wednesday, filed his nomination papers for the Vice Presidential elections in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Kiren Rijiju, and Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present at the occasion. According to ANI, Radhakrishnan submitted his nomination with the support of about 20 proposers and 20 supporters.
Earlier in the day, he paid floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi within the Parliament premises. He also paid homage to statues of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Jyotirao Phule, Rani Lakshmibai, B.R. Ambedkar, and Bhagwan Birsa Munda, ANI reported.
Radhakrishnan was accompanied by Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, L Murugan, and BJP leader Vinod Tawade. Prime Minister Modi lauded his “dedication, humility, and intellect,” highlighting his extensive grassroots work in Tamil Nadu.
Chandrapuram Ponnusamy Radhakrishnan, Maharashtra’s Governor since July 31, 2024, has also served as Governor of Jharkhand and Telangana and is a two-term MP from Coimbatore. Born on October 20, 1957, in Tirrupur, Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
He joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, BJP’s precursor, in 1974 as a state committee member, following earlier involvement with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). In 1996, he became the BJP Tamil Nadu secretary and was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Coimbatore in 1998, winning reelection in 1999.
During his parliamentary tenure, Radhakrishnan served as Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee, and as a member of the Parliamentary Committee for Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and the Consultative Committee for Finance. He was also part of the Parliamentary Special Committee investigating the Stock Exchange Scam.
