Amid the Nepal Gen Z protest, the Ministry on External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday issued an advisory and asked the citizens to defer travelling to Nepal until situation eases as it issued helpline numbers for the Indians present in Nepal.

The MEA, in its advisory also asked the citizens who are already in Nepal to avoid avoid stepping out of their places of stay.


Nepal is facing massive protests that began on Monday following the government's social media ban.



The MEA advisory said, "In view of the developing situation in Nepal, Indian citizens are advised to defer travel there until the situation has stabilised. Indian citizens presently in Nepal are advised to shelter in their current places of residence, avoid going out onto the streets and exercise all due caution. They are also
advised to follow local safety advisories from Nepal authorities as well as the Embassy of India in Kathmandu."

The MEA has also issued contact numbers for Indians in Nepal. It said that in case of any assistance required, please call the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, on the following helpline numbers:

1. +977-980 860 2881 (WhatsApp call also active)

2. +977-981 032 6134 (WhatsApp call also active)

Nepal is facing massive Gen Z protests and Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu has been temporarily closed.

So far, at least 19 people have died since the beginning of the protests on Monday.

Meanwhile, the Air India and IndiGo airlines on Tuesday also cancelled the flights to Kathmandu in Nepal.

Air India on Tuesday cancelled its flights between the New Delhi and Kathmandu in view of the closure of the city's airport amid anti-government protests in Nepal and IndiGo issued an advisory for passengers.

In an advisory, IndiGo said, "In view of the prevailing situation in Kathmandu, the airport has been closed for operations. Consequently, all flights to and from Kathmandu stand suspended as of now. If your travel is impacted, you may conveniently opt for an alternate flight or claim a refund by visiting our website. We are closely monitoring the developments and coordinating with local authorities to resume operations at the earliest. Customers are advised to keep checking our official channels for the latest advisories and updates. We look forward to the restoration of normal operations and sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding."

Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Tuesday resigned from his post following massive Gen Z protest in the country after government's social media ban, officials said.
