Meanwhile, on a question regarding the reasons behind the tragic Air India plane crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad on June 12, the civil aviation minister mentioned about the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau's (AAIB) preliminary report.
Murlidhar Mohol said that an Investigation has been ordered by Director General, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau under Rule 11 of the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents & Incidents) Rules, 2017 to determine the probable cause(s)/contributory factor(s) leading to the accident of Air India flight Al-171 at Ahmedabad on 12.06.2025.
A preliminary report on the accident has been published by AAIB on 12th July, 2025 and is available on their website. The investigation is in progress to determine the probable cause(s)/contributory factor(s) leading to the accident.
During the last six month, no adverse trend has been reported in reliability reports of Air India in respect of crashed aircraft, the minister said.
AAIB totally unbiased: Naidu
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is "totally unbiased" and is carrying out a definitive and thorough rule-based probe to find out what exactly led to the Air India plane crash that killed 260 people last month, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said in Rajya Sabha on Monday, reported the PTI.
Ten days after the AAIB came out with its initial probe into the fatal crash, Naidu said the investigation process is being carried out as per international norms and assured the Upper House that the country has a very robust aviation safety mechanism.
"We want to stand by the truth. We want to find out what exactly happened and that is only going to be coming out once the final report (of AAIB) is placed. We have to respect the process of investigation and once that process has happened, then we can talk about what happened, how it happened and then corrective measures (can be taken)," Naidu said, as per the PTI.
