No threat to Northeastern people anywhere in India: Home Secy

With people from north east in panic in Karnataka following rumours of attacks on some of them, Union Home Secretary R K Singh today said there was no threat to anyone from the region living anywhere in the country and termed the reports of violence as rumours.
"There is no threat to the people of the north east in any part of the country," Singh told PTI here reacting to reports that people from the region were attacked in other parts of the country.u00a0
On reports of mass exodus of people from the north east living in Bangalore, Singh said he had spoken to the Chief Secretary and Director General of Karnataka Police and they had informed him that there was no incident of attack on anyone from the region anywhere in the state.
